Just a minor thing,

would it be possible to change the intermediate directories
of the samples (ie let each sample have it's own intermediate directory?

Currently they all use the same directory, eg
- makefiles\win32\VC++7.1\Samples\Output\Debug
- makefiles\win32\VC++7.1\Samples\Output\Release

...and when using incredibuild it complains about that.
