I appreciate these links, but right now I am finding them not so very helpful.
The Beginners guide to getting CEGui Rendering really needs to mention all the #includes that are needed, and the dll's that have to be copied.
What about the dependencies that I had to copy to SysWow, I only found that in a thread from someone have the same problems as I?
Does it work if you haven't defined a CeGui window yet, or is that a must?
What does bootstrap save me? it looks like one line of code instead of two? What am I missing?
Please understand that I am not averse to learning, but I am just trying to evaluate if CeGui will work for me. I don't want to spend all day just getting hello world to work with my engine.
The samples are not so useful as I would have thought, they hide so much underneath I can't figure out the barest essentials, even in the first window sample. They are more demos than minimal samples that show you how to get started.
Just some feedback from a frustrated new user, thank you.

I guess we assumed these are apparent from the other code used. However we accept patches to the documentation so if you find something missing please provide a patch, it will be integrated into the 0.8 release.

I would advise not to do this but instead copy the dlls next to your exe file. Copying them to System directory will "taint" your system.

It will work without any Window defined but you will just get a black screen.

Exactly, only saves you a couple of lines. I think it is actually more than 2 lines, it also creates default resource provider and other systems.

This might be helpful, substituting DX9 for Ogre shouldn't be much of a problem.

Re: Useful Links for New CEGUI Users
Sorry, I had to give up. Lost an entire day wanting and trying to get CeGui to work. I would think that a "mature product" would have one working minimal directx example, that's really all it would have taken to get me on board. I couldn't find one. Anywhere. That's really amazing to me. I can't imagine how many users you have lost because of this. Your product looks nice, but your low user base is a direct result of the high cost of adoption.
