My 'next batch of widgets' wish list

Hey CE, I see that you are now ever so close to completing the first batch of widgets. Just these alone completely blow the old OGRE GUI completely out of the water (especially the new table grid widget), so fantastic work and thanks for this!

I know that you arent moving straight onto the next batch of widgets once youve done these, and I know that you simply will never have the time to do everything requested, but for what its worth, I'd like to nominate the widgets I'd most like to see in the future:

1) Tree view control
2) Menu bar

You'll be happy to hear that both those items are already on the provisional list for the 2nd batch of widgets, which currently looks something like this:

Hey Eddie, do you have an aproximate ETA for the "load windows from config files" feature?

I think we need this to get rip of hardcode GUIs.

Layout loading will be started immediately after the last widget is finished. I'm hoping that most of the code from the Mk-1 version of this widget will be re-usable, and that this widget will be done by this coming weekend.

The basic premise for layout loading is pretty simple and should only take a day to do. However, the way that most of the work will actually be performed will rely on the 'Named Property' system which will be added progressively. I imagine this area of the system will almost certainly be completed by the second week of July.

Spinners should be fairly easy, I'll add that to the list.
Pop-up menu support is indeed, as you guessed, already going to be part of the menu support.
show/hide buttons for "extra" info in list items is a good suggestion, almost certainly a pain to implement I'll see how things pan out once I get to this second batch of widgets a little later on

How about tooltips?

Yep, Tooltips are faily easily done. Though will need to use some 'frame update' support I have planned (for timing etc). The frame-update support will also enable auto-repeat to be added to some buttons (like the scrollbar buttons, and spinner buttons), plus visual effects (such as fade-ins/outs) to be handled by the widgets themselves (at the moment you can do all this stuff but it has to be implemented in client code. The planned support will offload this into the widgets).

If you mean Flash as in the Macromedia thing, it's not something that I've actually looked at, but I'd have to say that while it's probably not impossible, it's not something that I myself will be putting into the system any time soon. There may also be legal issues to consider, though I'm not sure since I haven't looked. If someone were to go through all that though, and contribute a patch or extension that enabled this kind of support for the system, I'd certainly be willing to include it
