Cegui 0.75 - "General" Ogre resource group used

Postby dezGusty » Wed Sep 07, 2011 13:47

Hi,

I'm using OGRE and I'm removing all default resource groups and create my own.

Code: Select all

Ogre::ResourceGroupManager::getSingleton().destroyResourceGroup("General");

While adding CEGUI support to the application, I ran across a minor issue.
I've set the default resource group to something:

Code: Select all

  std::string guiResourceGroup ("GeneralGUI");
  ceguiSysPtr_->getResourceProvider()->setDefaultResourceGroup (guiResourceGroup);

But when I create the scheme, this seems to be ignored and the missing "General" group causes a crash. I found this looking in the file
cegui\src\RendererModules\Ogre\CEGUIOgreTexture.cpp, line ~142:

Code: Select all

    // try to create a Ogre::Texture from the input data
    d_texture = TextureManager::getSingleton().loadRawData(
        getUniqueName(), "General", odc,
        buffer_size.d_width, buffer_size.d_height,
        target_fmt, TEX_TYPE_2D, 0, 1.0f);

So this forces me to use the "General" resource group. Is this a bug, or a documented limitation ? (I couldn't find anything related to this in the resource providers documentation)

Edit: If I don't delete the "General" resource group, I don't get any issues.

Thanks for taking the time to read this! :)

I am not an OGRE user so I cannot say one way or the other, although I will say that hard-coding an OGRE resource-group-name smells like a bug to me. I would suggest making a ticket in CEGUI's bugtracker, mantis, so that the issue does not get lost on these forums only to resurface three months later with another user.
If somebody helps you by replying to your thread, upvote him/her as a thanks! Make sure to include your CEGUI.log and everything you tried when posting! And remember that we are not magicians!

Hi Jamarr, I've tried creating a new bug, but I always get redirected from the bug report page to the "my view" page.

So I think that for the time being I'll leave this here and hope someone notices :)

In case this is always a requirement, here's the cegui log section:
