compiling CELayoutEditor 0.5.0 on Kubuntu

Postby IndrekSnt » Mon Jun 18, 2007 20:43

Hello,
I'm having problems with ./bootstrap'ing it.
It reports the following:

-su: ./bootstrap: /bin/sh^M: bad interpreter: No such file or directory

I tried deleting the line: #!/bin/sh
but doing so resulted in these errors:

: command not found3:
aclocal: configure.ac: 0: macro `AM_OPTIONS_WXRC' not found in library

All suggestions are welcome,
Thank You..

The problem looks to be the '^M'?

./bootstrap looks like a UNIX text executable, and hence needs to begin with an interpreter name like
#!/bin/sh
or
#!/bin/bash

The problem is, CELayoutEditor appears to be cross platform, and might have Windows (not UNIX) line endings being last edited by someone on a Microsoft platform. Try restoring the original textfile, than run dos2unix to convert the line endings.

Thank you for your time,
James Steven Supancic III

AM_OPTIONS_WXRC

Postby IndrekSnt » Tue Jun 19, 2007 09:28

Thank You,

dos2unix solved the first problem.

I have wxWidgets 2.6.0 installed and for some reason I'm getting this now:
    aclocal: configure.ac: 0: macro `AM_OPTIONS_WXRC' not found in library

Its strange that I could only find AM_OPTIONS_WXRC from acinclude.m4 and the line was like this:
    dnl AM_OPTIONS_WXRC

And I found that dnl stands for delete to new line - so everything after it and before the new line is deleted - its a comment?

So I deleted (again) it and this is what I received:
    configure.ac: 16: `automake requires `AM_CONFIG_HEADER', not `AC_CONFIG_HEADER'
    automake: configure.ac: installing `./install-sh'
    automake: configure.ac: installing `./mkinstalldirs'
    automake: configure.ac: installing `./missing'
    automake: configure.ac: installing `./config.guess'
    automake: configure.ac: installing `./config.sub'
    configure.ac: 16: required file `./[config.h].in' not found
    src/Makefile.am:23: variable `CEGUI_LIBS' not defined

All suggestions are welcome,
Thank You

make vs config.h

Postby IndrekSnt » Tue Jun 19, 2007 17:00

Ok, I managed to get rid of these errors by just calling 'autoconf'..

The configuration script was then created. After running it I received the following warnings:

    configure: creating ./config.status
    config.status: creating Makefile
    config.status: WARNING: Makefile.in seems to ignore the --datarootdir setting
    config.status: creating bin/Makefile
    config.status: WARNING: bin/Makefile.in seems to ignore the --datarootdir setting
    config.status: creating src/Makefile
    config.status: WARNING: src/Makefile.in seems to ignore the --datarootdir setting
    config.status: creating config.h

The makefiles were still created and the config.h aswell.

I then tried to 'make' it, but the result proved to be somewhat confusing:

    make
    make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/gameprog/glui/CELayoutEditor-0.5.0'
    cd . && autoheader
    make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/gameprog/glui/CELayoutEditor-0.5.0'
    cd . \
    && CONFIG_FILES= CONFIG_HEADERS=[config.h] \
    /bin/bash ./config.status
    config.status: error: cannot find input file: [config.h].in
    make: *** [stamp-h] Error 1

Strangely though, I have both config.h and config.h.in the `/usr/gameprog/glui/CELayoutEditor-0.5.0' directory that it just entered.

All suggestions are welcome,
Thank You
