How do I preserve transparency in the WindowsLook TGA files?

For help with anything that CEGUI doesn't offer straight out-of-the-box, e.g.:
- Implementation of new features, such as new Core classes, widgets, WindowRenderers, etc. ...
- Modification of any existing features for specific purposes
- Integration of CEGUI in new engines or frameworks and writing of new plugins (Renderer, Parser, ...) or modules

How do I preserve transparency in the WindowsLook TGA files?

Postby Mistaril » Wed Oct 27, 2004 14:06

I'm trying to import the original WindowsLook TGA files into Photoshop but for some reason I'm unable to keep the transparency (I end up with a white background). I also tried using ImageMagick convert to get to some intermediate format, but with the same results. Is there an original Photoshop file for the looks, or is someone able to convert it successfully to some other format .. Thank you in advance! :)

I don't have much experience with Photoshop. I use Paint Shop Pro here :) Which format would you prefer it in? I may be able to convert it for you.

Hmm, I use Photoshop and I have no problems... What version you using?
Im also not sure what you mean by 'import'; you can just open the TGA file with Photoshop, or drag it in from a folder. It understands the TGA format fine, and shows the background as checkered gray and white (implying transparent).
Maybe your image has changed somehow. If you go to the Image menu -> Mode, which bits are checked?

Same problem both with Photoshop 6, Gimp 2.0 and ImageMagick. And the source file I'm supposedly using is the CVS version in WidgetSets. (Import -> just opening the file as normally. TGA files are usually problem free .. :))

Could anyone do the favour of converting the WindowsLook.tga to .png (or Photoshop) and send it to me at kai at mistaril dot com? :D

Thank you in advance..

Yes, I can do that for you. It is this file that you want, right?
