The forums seem to be spending a lot of time downloading images; the HP/MP/EXP bars and others. I find these cute but not at the expense of the slowing down the forums; I'm much more interested in the text than in how it looks. I wish there were parameters in the profile configuration to not view/download some images: HP/MP/EXP bars and avatars.

I went to the Xoops and may have found an answer for the most annoying aspect of these forums; not staying logged in between visits: http://www.xoops.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=8

It has really been impossible to use www.cegui.org.uk lately.
No news, no forum, no wiki ...

Maybe the time has come to investigate the possibilities of either upgrading the exsisting host, or get a new, faster one?

I would really like to use the wiki and the forum, but it is almost impossible atm.
I would like to participate more - but this is like swimming in jelly..

IMO this is what CEGUI really need: a speedy server.

Kudos to the CEGUI team for doing excellent work behind the scenes!

And I don't think the experience bars and whatnot is the problem here - I find it cool, and unmistakenly 'CEGUI'-ish!

Remember that Paul is paying this out of his own pockets. It's not even that long ago he switched host (news entry) in hopes of the better.

Unfortunately it has'nt exactly proven to be...

The recent downtime was because of hardware upgrades! Which could perhaps lead to better performance when they get things settled. I don't know much, I'm just reciting what I read in my IRC log (sleep) a few days ago.

Or... It might just be all you guys bringing down each hosting company as cegui.org.uk moves by

I'd say give it some time or donate for a better host.
